A well-liked hiking route in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir, the Kashmir Great Lakes Trek is renowned for its beautiful alpine lakes and breathtaking mountain landscape. The walk, which traverses some of the most picturesque scenery in the area, is around 72 kilometres long. A number of high altitude meadows, snow-capped peaks, and crystal clear lakes, including the Vishansar, Gadsar, and Gangabal Lakes, are passed through on the walk, which begins at the well-known hill resort of Sonamarg. The Harmukh Peak, the tallest peak in the area, and other nearby mountains are also beautifully visible from the walk .The Kashmir Great Lakes Trek is a challenging but rewarding experience for any trekker, and is a must-do for anyone seeking an adventure in the stunning Kashmir region.

Transport facilities will be provided from Srinagar to Naranag and return to srinagar
Pickup from Srinagar at 9 Am and 3 hours (83 km) drive from Srinagar to Sonamarg. From Sonamarg we begin our 2 hours (3 kms) Trek to Table top which is a small but beautiful meadow in the upper reaches offering an unfettered view of Sonamarg Valley below. This becomes our camping site for the night.
After a hot and scrumptious breakfast we begin our trek from Table Top to Nichnai pass. We cross the pass into a magical valley of flowers and springs. We make camp and stay the night. Total trekking duration is 6 hours (10 kms)
After a relaxing morning with delicious breakfast we embark on our day’s journey to Kishansar Lake camp site, passing Vishansar Lake which is the first lake that we experience in the Kashmir Great Lakes trek. Kishansar Lake, the second lake on the trek becomes our camp site for the night. Total trek duration 4 hours (8 kms)
After a blissful morning at Kishansar Lake that rejuvenates our mind, body and soul, we begin the most difficult part of our trek to Gadsar Lake camp site after crossing the Gadsar pass at 4200 meters. The total trek duration for the day is 7 hours (14 kms)
After experiencing a beautiful morning amidst the Valley of Flowers alongside the Gadsar Lake we embark on our quest to Satsar Lake which becomes our campsite for the night. Total trek duration to Satsar is 5 hours (12 kms)
The next day after a tranquil morning with a hot and delicious breakfast we begin our trek to Gangbal and Nundkol Lakes with Nundkol Lake being the Camp site for the night. Ganagbal Lake is the largest lake to experience in the Great Lakes trek. Both Gangabal and Nundkol lakes lie just 30 mins from each other and offer breathtaking views including the majestic Harmukh mountain peak in their backdrop. Total distance covered in the day is 10 kms in 5 hours.
The next day after breakfast we begin our descent to Naranag from Nundkol. The journey takes us through beautiful high altitude meadows and through lush green forests before culminating into this beautiful village called Naranag, from where we drive back to Srinagar. Total duration 5 hours 13 kms
